Wondering if you could help me decode a vin# for a 1978 Ford Pickup? The VIN is F14BLCD9824. The reason is everything says F150 on the truck but the title is listed as a 3/4 ton. Any idea? Any help would be appreciated. Thank you.

For people needing to decode their truck info,I don't know why people just don't send others to my web site where one can decode the rating plate themselves
Well I know in california that you can put heavy duty springs, brakes and things to beef up a vehicle and get the gvwr reclassified.
I know a few people to do that around here where I live... I have a friend with a 1960 F-500 that is now close to being a F-900.
Another possibility, it could also be the GVWR is right where the cut off is. Your F-150 might be able to haul close to 3/4 ton, but has the brakes wheels and axles of a typical F-150. The F-250 has better brakes and heavier axles etc...
Thank you for all the help. I really appreciate all of the replies and they were all very helpful. The GVW is listed at about 6000 lbs so it all fits for a 1/2 ton. Thanks again.
