y-pipe

sup guys, i ran by my muffler shop the other day to ask him about getting a less restrictive y pipe and helooked at it and did not see a problem should i believe him or buy a new one and where can i get one? one more ? i have a gutted converter and when i give it gas it sounds like a plastic bag is under my truck any ideas, replace, remove, leave alone? thanks for your input

That means it probably has an exhaust leak somewhere.

Look at the Y pipe, and if there is any part of it that is crushed, or bent to clear something, replace that piece. Also, where the 2 pipes merge, they are usually crushed together to fit the single pipe with no regard to flow. The easiest way to do this is to get some mandrel bent pipe pieces, an cut and replace as needed into the stock Y pipe. You will have flow as good, and sometimes better than aftermarket pieces.

Almost any stock Y pipe needs help and can be made better through that method
