I took mine in this morning to get the gears replaced. It took a couple of months to get my parts. They kept getting backordered because they had a supplier problem (replacing bad parts with bad parts was no help). I know the parts manager personoally and he was getting terribly frustrated trying to get the parts and being unable to do it. At least it gave the dealership time to send their mechanic to a Ford school for training on how to install the parts (the mechanic who installed the first one got into an argument with the female service manager and found out it's not a good idea to make a woman mad and is now looking for a job).

Took my truck in for service today...

Rear window leak was fixed. Now I have to schedule a date for the rear end whine. But my biggest fear was overcome when the dealer told me they could hear it. I was worried they would deny their was a problem.

The dealer says this is probably a two day fix, one to crack it open and fix, but a second day in case they need to get parts from another dealer. Does this sound right to you guys?

The dealers are having problems with vendors to get parts in. It took four weeks to get a new ring and pinon, and only a half a day to install.

As of today, I still haven't heard back from the dealer.

The dealer is providing a rental (an '05 F150 Screw) so I'm being patient. I'm just curious how long this repair should take once they have parts in hand.

That worries me. The service guy talked like they would crack it open and figure out which parts they needed, then go get them.....

We'll see

They have a complete service kit that includes everything they need for the repair. It took a couple of months to get mine and they told me flat rate is 6 hours to install. I took mine on Tuesday at noon and got it back Wednesday afternoon. The delay was caused bu them having to find a couple of tools to complete the repair. The first mechanic (since fired) apparently guessed when the proper tools weren't handy. The fix worked and it is very quiet now.

No but there is a TSB out on it (you may need to do a search) so they are well aware of it. The backorder was for the 3.73 LS rear and I even called Ford and they confirmed that the information from the parts department was accurate.
