Want your opinions

I have been seriously thinking about deleting the trim on my truck. (when I get ready to paint it) I have been looking through the galleries and like the trucks without it. I figure it would be cheaper than restoring or replacing the trim and give the truck a smoother cleaner look. Plus It would do away with a good hiding place for rust. I would keep the chrome pieces on the hood sides that say f100 and have them dipped. I am planning on painting it blue only, so I wouldn't need trim for two tone seperation. Am I crazy or what?

I think your on the right track with the hood f100 chrome. On the side chrome, i would go without - that's mine

ps: i wonder how much the chrome pcs would sell for on e-bay - might be worth it

Dont know about ebay but some of the online stores have those f-100 emblems for around 130-140 I think dipping would be cheaper if I could find a place to do it. I just hope the reflector seperates easily. If not that would be a nogo on dipping.

I feel the same way blue, mines a custom and didn't come with any side chrome any way, the 70 Ranger XLT had it everywhere and I thought it was a little "overdone". I'm gonna paint mine Blue too, Metallic blue, probably something a little bright. Anyway you can buy th echrome F-100 hood emblems on ebay for pretty cheap. Oh and another thing I'm doing is rechroming the custom emblem on the back of my truck, after all it is gonna be a custom truck!!

I think I will remove the ranger emblems on the back too. After all the trim is removed it will no longer be a ranger.

That's what appealed to me the most about mine, it's simple but looks slick.

I got the tailgate trim off today. Those 35 year old screws were pretty stuck. I had to drill the heads off the screws. A word of caution if you take this piece off be cautious. All you see is aluminum on the outside but it is attached to steel. It weighs about 14 pounds and when it falls if you are bare foot it will cut your toe.

My truck soesn't even have that musch trim on it, it just has the plain steel tailgate that says FORD. But I know what ya mean, the Ranger XLT had that and i was checkin for rust behind it needless to say it wasn't worth it trying to get all that off.

Well it looks shabby so it is gonna stay off. Gonna go with bare tailgate it still says ford. Plus thats 14 pounds my truck does not have to haul anymore
