BAJA_SD Service Record for 2005 PSD

I had the “brilliant idea” to record all my trucks service history in this thread and add to it as things occur. Maybe if enough of us do this a dedicated forum for service records could emerge.

My truck is a White 2005 F250 PSD CrewCab FX4 Lariat with all options except Moon Roof, Electronic Shift-on-the-Fly, PTO and Snow Plow Package. Specifically ordered the 17 inch wheels because of availability of tires. I ordered it in January 2005 from Kearny Mesa Ford in San Diego and took delivery February 15, 2005 with 18 miles on the odometer.

5,000 mile service at Kearny Mesa Ford. Coupon for free service used. Asked them to check serpentine belt and pulleys for wear and residue because I often smell burnt rubber from the belt area. They reported everything was fine.

Replaced my stock 17 wheels and BFG tires with "take off" factory 18 inch wheels and Continental tires with 200 miles on them that I got for $400.00.

Dropped truck off at Kearny Mesa Ford to have the Service Engine Soon light evaluated. Told them that if they re-flashed it not to change the tire size. Also asked them to check out the front end for steering wheel shake over small bumps and told them about the related TSB. Asked them to check the air conditioning as I don't think it is blowing cold as it should. Again, asked them to check the serpentine belt for wear as I am still smelling burnt rubber and see residue around the pulleys.

Picked up the truck. Service Engine Soon light is due to a bad Fuel Sender in the tank - part on order. I'm going to have the connection checked because it may have come loose after the Transfer Flow tank install. Freon level was low and charged. Will take the truck back in when sender is available.

I did not see any significant difference in MPG when I swapped wheel/tires. I was hoping to, because I am honestly disappointed in the fuel economy of the truck. I have a spread sheet that I keep very accurate records of the truck on and I have averaged 13.18 MPG over the first 7,753 Miles using 588.44 Gallons of fuel. The best mileage I got was on a road trip to Arizona with no load and averaged 15.64 MPG over 313 miles. The worst I have gotten is 8.06 MPG towing the race truck to Mexico and back. Race Truck and trailer weigh around 8,000lbs and I had another 2,500lbs in the bed. I'm not at all unhappy with the towing performance or mileage, but the daily unloaded driving I do (70% So. Cal. Hwy) is only 12 to 13 MPG.
I posted some more information about the effects of the wheel/tire swap here:

Service Engine Soon light turned off this morning. I'm thinking there must be a bad spot on the Fuel Sender. I'll put 5 gallons in it and see if the light comes back on.

WHOA...wait a sec...you shouldn't be letting the dealer recharge the A/C system with freon...that was phased out years ago...it should be R-134a or equivelant...just checkin

Freon is a generic term. I, and I am sure the dealer know that it is an R-134a system, besides the connections are different.
