Header manufacturers for a 1988 e150 302?

I've been trying to find a good header set to replace the stock manifolds on my 302EFI e150 and have not found much. Ford racing makes them for 1992-newer (which probably just have extra O2 bungs and would otherwise fit fine), but are really expensive for what you get. Several other companies make shorties for the F150, but no aftermarket brands seem to make shorties that they'll admit fit into a 1988 e150 with a 302.

Does anyone here have the same or near same body/engine with an aftermarket header set that they're happy with and know doesn't hit anything under the vehicle (frame, doghouse, etc)?

Thanks.
Dan

In '92 the E150 had a complete redesign of the body, that's whay they won't work. Your best bet is going to be a build your own header kit.

Just confirmed with FordRacingParts that theirs (M-9430-T50) is a 90-95 application and the reason it doesn't "fit" earlier models is the emissions features, not the clearance. It looks to have 2 O2 sensor bungs and a fitting for a smog pump:

So, in theory, the only reason one wouldn't fit is if it's shaped differently than the ford model... (ports can always be plugged if not in use...)

Still looking for someone that HAS put headers on their e150 5.0.

Check out this part number @ Jeg's online, 85045, Dynomax brand, about $120, or, 89160, Hedman brand, about $165. Both are longtube headers. Give them a call to verify fit. They seem to really spend the time to explain stuff. There's probably more. I seem to recall people saying Thorley makes them, but I'm not sure.
Whichever headers you end up going with, get the coated ones if you have the option. Lots of heat issues in a van with headers.
Maybe you can go to a local shop to get a set to try for fit if you don't want to wait on shipping and such. I've got Hedmans and can't complain, but I'm carbed w/351W. Still got the heat issues.
Good luck,
Munrow

I purchased some shorties for a F150 for my E150 351. Darn things hit the inside of the doghouse. Watch out for that clearance.

They had the EGR fitting and everything too. bummer they didn't work...
