Ive rewired my truck.Everything is working,wipers,heater ,lights turn signals,brake lights.
The problem is:
when you plug in the cluster the high beam indicator and the left turn signal light comes on and does not go out.If I turn on the turn signal it jumps from side to side on the cluster.If cluster is left plugged in the battery goes dead over night.Unplugged all the fuses and the instrument cluster still stays lit.Everything works on the outside of truck,when you turn on left turn signal left side lights turn on right the right lights up.
I m stumped ,must be drawing a power somehow that Im not supposed to be getting.Anyone have any ideas?

I would get a meter and look at all the wires comming into the cluster. There is a error there somewhere it might be a ground, that will cause all kinks of weird stuff to happen. Good luck.
Replaced the headlight switch no help.I have another cluster and plugged it in ,still does the same thing.Will check the ground on the cluster maybe its bad.
I had a similar problem one time and the guy who had the truck before me had taken the pig tails that you use for wiring trailer lights and had them plugged together, into each other. had me scratchin my head for awhile. found it when i put my hand on the connectors and they were really hot to the touch. just a thought.
thanks for all the help.Ive got some time today and will be trying to figure it out again.These little wiring problems take more time than some of the bigger projects. thanks again moparnut
SWAG = Scientific Guess.
Anyway my best guess would be that you a consant 12 volt to your IP and it's growneding through your bright and turn sig indicator lights. Check all the leads to your ip w/ volt meter or test light igntion off. The ip gets power throug a Key on powered fuse the IP lights (not warning lights) get power from your light switch see what you can find.

Wes, You may be on to something there.There is power going to the cluster with the ignition off.If I understood your post correctly the power shouldnt be there unless the key is on?MY harness is not cut or spliced any where its factory connector to connector.Thanks for the replies moparnut
I would back trace the wire you found power on. It must be shorted to power either in the loom (screw through panel into loom always a good one) or a componant. Shouldn't that hard to find. May even be in fuse block buss area. keep at it. It can be solved.
