Is there a link to free/cheap mods?
I was wondering if anyone knew of some links to some free/almost free mods I could do to my 2001 PSD. I am used to working on gas engine cars, so I don't know the "tricks" to these diesels yet.
I know my 2001 Trans Am had a bunch of free or less than $50.00 mods a person could do to improve performance. Just wondering if these Fords are the same.
Thanks,
Gary

There are several inexpensive mods you can do. They will produce modest, at best, performance gains. Some of them are the 10K/Clamp Mod, shimming the FPR, gutting the CAT, disabling/eliminating the EBPV.
Some of these are described here: http://pages.prodigy.net/stevebaz/_i...az/index3.html

I was just about to post the same question! that is exactly what I was wondering about, I know of the 1ok mod, the kwikk filter change, disconnect vacuum from wastegate, dump crank case vent tube to atmosphere....I think that is all of the "free" ones I know of. And by the way on the 10k mod what would happen if I took three different resistors, a 10k, a 18k and a 5.6k and wired them in to the plug. With one end of each on one side of the plug and then the other ends to a 3-way switch that looped back to the second prong? would that work for a quick in-cab dial in for the amount of power or MPG you needed? just wondering.....

Then there is the freebie, disconnecting the vacuum from the wastegate.

Is the vacuum mod recommended even after the Predator programmer,or just to a stock truck computer?
