yet another expy MPG question

so i'm supposed to pick up a 99 EB expy with 4 wheel saturday. i know my gas mileage is going to go down from my explorer. what's your typical average mpg you guys see with mixed city and highway with the 99 and up 5.4L? is 13mpg too much to assume? and yes i know driving style has a lot to do with it.

this expy is going to be even worse... it has duel exhaust (not sure if that will affect gas mileage) and also has 23 inch rims with low profile wide tires. i KNOW this is going to hurt me... but how bad do you guys think? i'm hoping it will be at least 11mpg average.

how much does towing affect your gas mileage? i often tow about 1,500 lbs and never really notice any difference in gas mileage with my V6 explorer. will this greatly affect the expy? it doesn't seem like a lot for the expy's big V8 to me.

are there are fuel chips out there for expy's? any mods or tricks you guys found to improve gas mileage?

thanks for any help guys!

I average about 11.5 mpg with mostly city driving. I've only towed with it once so far, but it was a 6000lb car/trailer combo and the gas milage was about 10 for a 100 mile trip of mixed city/hwy so it didn't go down too much. The dual exhaust will actually help your gas milage, because it lets your engine breath better. I don't know if there will be that much of a gain though, since it's probably just a cat-back system, so you're still using the factory exhaust in front of that. Depending on the overall size of the tires, they may not affect it too much. They'll probably be a little heavier so it'll take a little more gas to get it moving and more brake to stop it, but I imagine it won't hurt your milage too much.

We get 13 mpg with a short couple mile sprint on freeway with the balance in town. Got 12 mpg towing 5500 lbs and rig weighing 7000.

(05 EB) Just recently got 18 mpg on a recent 700 mile round trip in highway driving.
In local driving I think we're getting 13 mpg max - more like 12 mpg.

Well my wifes exped we can get upto 22mpg highway and upto
16 city with averages just below both, she has a nice steady light foot, plus all the preventitive maintenance that goes into her truck
helps a lot.
