Help Dually Owners, Photo Needed of 81-86 Model
Hey guys,
Looking for some help with my dually conversion. My problem is I am in Australia and styleside dually's are not on every street corner they came from the factory are cab chassis trucks and 99.9% are flat trays or tow trucks (wreckers), so styleside duallys are pretty darn rare.
I am converting my 1982 F350 single cab to a styleside dually so far I have fitted the adaptors to move out my wheels, dummied up the styleside body and the flares. My problems are is the rear wheels sit waaay back in the wheel arches, I have spoken to a F-Series parts dealer here in Australia and he states that the body needs to be cut around the wheels arches then fit the flares so the wheels sit in the middle of the arch simple or not.
Not. I want to make the trucks conversion to be as professional looking as possible so I require the assistance of a dually owner with a digital camera to take a snap or two of under the flares so I can see what the factory done to the wheel arches. I have looked around the net and can't find a pic that is detailed enough under the flares arch and with a hand full of dually's in Perth I can't get a look under one myself. My email addres is sjperformance@iprimus.com.au should some one have a picture they would like to send to me.
Any help would be appriceated thank you in advance
Glenn

Glenn, Was this a factory pickup truck or a Cab and chassis that you've added a bed to? I beleive the Cab and chassis trucks had a slightly longer wheelbase. Something like 135" vs' 133" for a pickup truck. Is there a door sticker with wheelbase on the truck or can you measure it? This could put the wheels back in the wheelwell.

My truck was a cab/chassis there were no factory styleside F350's released by Ford in Australia and they still don't, which sucks. My next truck I will have to import myself to get what I want (crew cab dually)
The wheel base on my truck as per the factory repair manual is 3475 millimeters or 136 13/16"
An F150 or F250 is 3378 millimeters or 133" by the factory manual. 3 13/16" is the difference why can't things be easy???
With the flares I can position them so the wheels are central and it looks ok position wise on the body from pictures I have compaired but would really like to see a pic of under the flares from some one if possible.
Cheers
Glenn
