broken pivot joint on side view mirror
Hello everyone, I have a 1993 extended cab F150 and my right side view mirror is broken at the joint and will no longer lock into place. This problem is especially annoying during high speed, windy driving and occasional mirror adjusting.
The mirror is an electronic mirror with the chrome back on it. I'm assuming that it will be expensive to replace the whole unit because of the chrome. Has anyone come along a similar problem? Is there a way i can just replace or fix the mirror at the joint, because everything else works fine, even the holder. I guess it all happened when my dad forced the mirror in the wrong direction. <shrug> please help.
P.S. one quick question. For tire sizes, can anyone give me a method for converting This: P235, to inches. I have a 30in tire on the truck now and would like to know if a P235 is the same size or larger. thanks again!

I don't know about that mirror, but it sounds like it might be repairable, on the other hand, my moms t-bird's mirror glass got broken, and the whole assembly had to be replaced, but it didn't have the fold-in feature like the trucks do.
anyways, about the tire sizes: when people say 31", 32", 33", etc., it refers to the overall diameter of the tire, while the 235, or whatever, refers to the width of the tread area in millimeters. example: 235/60 R15 is 235mm wide tread, the profile (60) is expressed as a percentage or the width, so it's 140mm high, R means radial, and it's for a 15" rim. The profile is a percentage, that's why a 195/50 still has a higher profile than, say, a 265/50. I'm not as sure about the inch sizing... I have 33x10.5 BFGs, and I know for a fact that they're not 10.5 inches wide! I have no idea why the two systems... anyone else know?
