I think what you are experiencing is "bump-steer". IT happens when you hit a bump or when the suspension compresses to a certain point. This is because of the drop in height. Did you use new spindles? If not, you might have lowered it too much to the point where you now experience bump steer.
I have a 2004 screw also, but a 2WD. I lowered my truck with a 3/5 drop and running 22"x9.5" kmc cousteaus. 305/45/22 toyo proxes. When I lowered my truck, they installed a camber kit on the front. They also had to shorten the tie rod ends about 3" on each side to make it adjustable (and not max it out). The initial alignment costed me $575.00, but I never had a problem since then. I rechecked the alignment two weeks after the first, and the truck is still perfectly aligned.
P.S> I also changed the vibrating two piece driveshaft to an aluminum one piece and shimmed the rear end 6 degrees. Now there is no vibration and the truck rolls smooth and easy. Let me know if I can help in any way. Good luck!
Hey Noah, how about some pics??? I hate the ride quality of my Protech leveling kit, almost as much as I hate the stock ride height. So...I am considering a 3/5 drop.
rts9364- I'm working on the pictures. I've been really busy lately. I just started back up on the forum and still need to complete my profile. I should have the pictures up by next week (after a good polishing!)
Asw for the ride quality, I gotta be honest- I installed a djm 3/5 drop kit. I modified the crap out of it so I could still run the larger size tires. Everyone said it wasn't possible, but I drive it everyday to , for, and from work! After the mods to the djm kit, the truck rides a million times smoother than before. I learned one thing though- if you want a smooth ride, your gonna have to sacrifice some of the performance handling at the higher speeds (over 80mph on windy roads) As for me, it's not very often that I drive that fast, so I like the smoother ride better.
