i have a 2001 f 250 4x4 7.3 auto with a diablo chip, and straight pipe, this thing runs great no problems at all, starts good runs good. BUT im starting to notice here and there while driving it i see whiteish/blueish smoke come out from the tailpipe? it dosent do it all the time, but it does it enough for me to post here and ask. fuel filter was done recently im due in 700 miles for an oil change using delo chevron oil. ummm my diablo chip is on the mid setting. and about 3 weeks ago i thought i could smell raw diesel in the truck but i wasnt too sure, and have not smelled it since. any ideas fellas, any help is appreciated !!

Yup, I would have to agree with Kwik.
I would get your turbo checked out by a reputable rebuilding shop.

A side thought....
Do you have a fuel pressure gauge in the cab?

Just the basics, check your lines, look to see the fuel/water seperator isn't leaking at filter or drain.
Other than that, go with what Kwik & Company say.

How is the truck on oil usage??? I assume when kwik said turbo failing he ment the seals, so therefore it would use oil, thus causing blueish smoke. pull your intake piping off and check for any side to side play in the turbo, and look for any damage on the wheel or the housing, if it is goin bad.

If the turbo seals are going bad, you should have oily residue in the downpipe. Remove the band clamp and check the inside of the downpipe for oil.

Is the sun at your back when you notice it? Regular old black smoke can look blue in the mirror with the sun behind you.

it could be day or night when i see the smoke, now i catch myself looking for it.
also when im hard on the gas i dont see as much, but when i lightfoot it i get it a little more, and after it has been sitting for 20 min or so after prolonged running, it does it a little more.

thnx diesel im going to pull off the intake piping this weekend and check the shaft play, now that you said this i did notice the take off boost is kinda low, and it takes me to mash it to see any real psi coming from the turbo boost gauge.
