Well I talked to my Head Porter today!!

And I guess next month..I'll be sending him the Heads...to get 2.090" Intakes and 1.650" Exhaust Valve's.and Polished, ported, and CCed... New Manley Valve's hardened seats, new diamond honed guide's, Titon Seals, New Isky springs, Titainium Retainers, 10* locks, etc...

The last set he did, he pulled the paperwork out on..and at .600" Lift they flowed 290cfm Intake and 200cfm exhaust..Not to dad gum shabby for Iron heads.. I might have to go with a slight dish piston? Depending on how much come's out for CCing?

Well Guys your up to date.. More to come later? I hope!!! LOL..

290 and 200 at .600 is pretty stout! I would love to see pics of exhaust port that flows 200cfm when done though. Those numbers are good for around a max of 600hp. I just need my own flowbench!

I'll Make sure I post a pic in my gallery when done.... With the CompCam change, and the port work along with a few other things, it looks like on the Dyno Sim...I'll be knocking the hell out of 500hp from 395.4 ci...

All iron Motor too!! I just love it!! TQ wont be to bad either 475 at 4500rpm..
493hp at 6000rpm... But thats just a sim...

This is why I like the FE's.

500+hp, stock block, stock rods, stock crank, stock (ported) heads. Try that in a 302!

kinda ot

Since both of you have a simulation, I have been wondering why they recommend using seat to seat timing instead of .050 cam timing. I just don't understand how you can compare .004, .006, .020 lifter rise specs against each other. I like to use .050 cam timing even though it is not recommended. I have emailed dynosim about this both they never replied.

What are you guys thoughts?

All the cams I've saved have been .004" (crane) or .006" (comp). Close enough for spittin. The book that came with my DD2k says that seat to seat specs tell the program more about lifter acceleration and therefore are more accurate.

Russ: Get me the flow numbers for those heads after you have 'em ported. I'd like to run it through DD2k again, just to satisfy curiosity. I'd also like to have another representative set of flow data for ported heads.

Hey same here! I got my stock data, time for ported data. I will hopefully have my modified d2's flowed in the next month.

OK, Kurt and FEP.. Go to Stan Weiss on google search and look up his head flow chart..Look under C4AE-G and you'll see Heads in there ported by Les Schmader..

The C4's and the C2's are pretty much the same head.. Most of your FE heads from 65 on down were of larger port...in 66 the started coming out with smaller runner's

Now 290/200 were quoted to me by Les...with the 2.090's and the 1.650's.. So I think with the 1.730's in there it will pick up the exhaust flow...

My "rolled" Eboks are 280 I/220 E @ .600 lift. No fancy work done, just gasket match and polished up. Ebok says they can go over 300 Intake with some metal removal...but I'm not trying to make that much horsepower...LOL! (or screw up a set of heads tryin). The CJ heads they replaced were factory stock pieces yet, never touched.

They say that if I can pull 4100 pounds to 119 mph in the quarter...I'm not doin' too bad....

With the ol Moroso "speed" calculator it put me at 550~ hp. I don't think it's too far out of line. Course what good is "big" hp numbers if a car runs 13's.....LOL!!!!

The strange part is I took about .02 off the heads this winter and the car picked up .15 and 4 mph right off the bat!!! Hmmmmm? It went 11.58 @ 115 last year, 11.43 @ 119 first week out. It has not run those kind of numbers since the old motor.

BTW....BUDGET and FE...........DON'T fit in the same sentence.....

Six, I really dont know personally, But my head porter said there wasnt much Difference between the C4 and the C2, But I Do know that the C4's Flow really well when ported...
