6.5-foot Box For '06 SuperCrew!

I just got the 2006 specs this morning, and it's for real: there will be a 6.5-foot cargo box available on the 2006 F-150 SuperCrew with Job 2 models. Exactly when that is, we don't know, but I'll post again as soon as I know anything more. It will be a 150" wheelbase, BTW.

You don't know how long I have been waiting to hear that Ford will now have a 6.5' box on the crew cab F-150. I have purposely held off on buying a crew cab with the 5' box. When will the 2006 information be available to consumers?

Will it be offered with the heavy duty setup? (like the 2900 pounds cargo capacity F150)

I'm still waiting for a light-duty diesel option?

I really hope so but I doubt it.

The HD package is only available in the 8' bed. The 8' bed regular cab has a wheelbase of 144.5", and in the 4x2 configuration, a payload of 3000 lbs.

The HD extended cab with the 8' bed has a wheelbase of 163", and in the 4x4 configuration, has a payload of 2290.

The current supercrew with the 5.5 ft bed has a 138.5" wheelbase, and a payload of roughly 1300 with the 4.6 L engine, and ~1500 lbs with the 5.4 liter.

The current supercrew does not have the heavy duty package, but costs roughly about the same as an extra cab with the heavy duty package if you price it out at ford.com .

The most likely configuration would be to have the '06 supercrew just be a streched version of the supercab styleside wheelbase (add 6" to 144.5" supercab wheelbase). This is assuming the 150" wheelbase figure given earlier in the thread is correct, which is likely, since the current supercrew is 138.5 inches.

I doubt Ford would offer the HD package for the supercrew, as it would add significantly to the cost, not only of manufacture, but also to the asking price, thus pricing out some customers. Remember, Ford wants to sell as many of these things as possible.
