Dads 88 5.0 is running bad

88 Bronco XLT 5.0 AOD

Lately my dads 88 Bronco has been running very bad. Its studders and misses and backfires thru the intake taking off from a stop, or trying to accelerate at all between idle and 2000 rpm. It is lacking in power, and using alot more gas than usual. We've changed the plugs, wires, cap/rotor, replaced the O2 sensor, put Lucas fuel injector cleaner in the fuel, and changed the fuel filter and air filters. The problem is the worse when it is cold, but is still there when warm. It also likes to die alot when cold. The catilytic converter has been removed so I know it isnt that. My dad also said the EGR valve is good when I asked about that. Any suggestions ? Im out of them. Thanks ahead of time, Trey.

Pull the codes. It will save the guessing and spending more money on items that MIGHT be the problem. Let us know what codes you get. A Haynes manual will describe how to pull them yourself for nothing more than the cost of a paperclip.

Yes......before you replace anything pull the codes and let the truck tell you what up with it.
If you want another guess......well I would say the IAC is gummed up????

You need a Haynes manual and a paperclip! The procedure is detailed in the manual.
