Mitchell Gear Splitter work for overdrive in 67?

I'm looking at a Mitchell Gear Splitter for sale that came out of a 79 F350 behind a NP435 4-speed manual transmission. I'm wanting to put an overdrive unit in my 67 behind the 460/C6. First will it work with that and second will it provide any overdrive benefits? Or does it just divide up your other gears? Thanks.

Alright, well I figured out that it's simply an underdrive unit. But it's cheap enough that I had a thought.

I believe I already have a 3.0:1 gear ratio behind my 460/c6. That should result in a pretty high highway gear as is. What if I installed the Mitchell Gear Splitter for the underdrive and then just configured my rearend, be it a 3.0:1 ratio or something higher, so that I get good high way speeds in that final gear and then the underdrive unit could provide me with take-off and pulling power when needed. Sound reasonalbe? Too much trouble dealing with the Mitchell Gear Splitter? Should I just wait to find an affordable Gear Vendors unit?

With the 460/C6 combo...I don't think you will need anymore gear to pull anything. Unless you plan on some constant heavy load? As long as you have a good tranny cooler, I'd skip it all.

Even with running a high geared rear end to help with highway speeds?
And no, it won't be a heavy-duty hauler but I plan to put it through it's paces on occassion.

More weight, more frictional losses, more driveline slack and more complicated system. Availability of replacement parts? Lower fuel mileage? If it make you happy go for it. Proper motor, convertor, gears and tire diameter and extra coolers would be better if it were me.
