88 brake issue
I have a problem and I hope somebody can help. The brake light and the antilock light on my 88 keep comming on it dosen't happen all the time but when it does the pedal gets softer than usual does anybody have any idea what is going wrong? the truck has 148,000 on it and sat for about 4 years before I bought it, it was driven 1,000 miles a year the last couple of years.

If your getting both a "brake warning light", and a "rear ABS light" at the same time...... then the very first thing I would check is the brake fluid level or the sensor that keeps a eye on it.

thanks I'll check on that this weekend. do you know if the ABS valve can be checked for proper operation? this one only comes on after a mild to hard braking then goes off when I restart the truck.

I am not sure if there is check for it. I looked at mine and noticed brake fluid seeping from the electrical seal on it. Mine was doing the same exact thing. I would restart the truck and it would go away for a while.
