Barebackjake & Rockyrider Thanks for the help! but I could not wait . I had to send it to ford, I did everything I could think of but I just came up empty. YES it was the Cam Position Sensor $300 installed OUCH! Also TWO Batteries, One of them looked like it was weak according to the little inspection window that should show green, for good. Both were 5 years old. (Been looking for that one). I was wondering if a performance tuner would have told me if I had a bad Cam Position Sensor. The Check engine light never came on. Would it have came up as a code. How would any one been able to tell that was the problem. Do I need to get a performance programer that will read codes. Aso which one should I get.

alot of times the cps code dosnt show up i would say about 90% of the time it dies before the cps code pops up.

ok so you did get batteries AND a cps for $300 that actually isnt too bad. i carry spares and have a 10mm socket and wrench and a flat blade screwdriver 10 minutes later your on the road.

On average, when is the CPS likely to go out?

I'm almost at 117K miles and probably should pick up a couple of spares to be prepared....
