dash coin holder removal

Been posted, but not lately, so here goes.
Do you have a 4x4? some have a harness that routes to the back of that thingy. If not, no sweat. Plenty of room behind it, you yank it out by yanking it out. Sorry, hook it with your fingers and pull.
Watch out if you put a gauge there, as it will not be very visible to most drivers, when the trans is in drive.
For more fun things to do with that darn hole

Best of luck on making a good use for that location.

When you yank the coin holder back and out on a 4X2 there will be a wire connector plugged into the back of the coin holder. This connector is a 4X4 accessory, and the coin holder was placed there to plug up the hole the lack of the 4X4 accessory creates. Just friction tape the wire connector and poke it back into the dash area.
There are many uses for the now blank coin holder area:
Extra Guage
Extra Electrical Switch
Cell Phone Holder
Flex Tube Light
Mason Jar Holder (For those that do Shine)
I have always had a place to puts notes, shopping lists, or hand made maps that are easy to pop a look at when in traffic. This little bulletin board is made from a piece of fashioned metal (not aluminum) flashing from a house, attached to the dash with velcro. Add to that one or two magnets, Whalla, bulletin board.

Not on my truck. Nothing back there but air. I think STX is a little different.

Bit small for that isn't it?

It looks like a perfect fit there! Yes, took minimum "fitting".
Is it back lit? Yes, lighting even matches dash lighting
What issues do you have as far as seeing it behind the shifter, if any? It is partially blocked by shifter in drive, but since it's trans. temp. I don't need to be looking at it as often as the other gauges, only when going up long hills, etc., like when we go to our cabin it's about 10 miles of slow uphill. Easy to just move my head to see it. Temperature always 150 deg. or less when on the road normal driving.

I'm pretty sure it's the Autometer 2 1/16" part # ATM-2552 from Summit, but it's probably available thru Motorhaven. Check with them first. Part # should be the same since it's an Autometer #. It came with the 1/8" sender & adapters. The sender fit right into the trans. on the shift lever side. There's a test port there.
