Hey guys I have a 02 7.3 PSD with 57,000 and no mods (at this time). When I shift to 4wd, have the on the fly system, my dash lights dont come on showing 4wd is engaged. All of the other lights in my dash work, these are the only ones that dont light up. Is there any kind of plug in under the truck or somewhere that could come unplugged?
Does the 4x4 engage when you turn the switch? Sometimes the light will not go on if the the 4x4 fails. Bad vaccum seals are a common problem on SDs with shift-on-the-fly. If the 4x4 works, then it could be anything from a frayed wire to a burnt out bulb in the dash. Good luck finding the answer!
There is a plug somewhere on the transfer case, I believe. Does the light for 4lo come on or are both lights inoperative? I had a burnt out bulb on 4hi. 4lo light worked. If only one light out, probably bulb. If both, check the plug first. Find a patch of gravel, sand, or mud and an observer and see it the front tires spin. I do not have the electric shift - there may be a fuse to check, too.
Good Luck.

Thanks for the feedback guys. My four wheel drive system is fully operational except for the lights, both 4lo and 4hi coming on when engaged. I will check for the plug in on the transfer case. Also my hubs are really hard to turn when I want to fully lock them, is that a common problem with these trucks?
