Question Wow Son!! Is This Danger???????

not a turbo expert by any means...i had a serious case of tinker itis today and wanted to look at a few things on my truck. i pulled off my intake(orange hose) and got to looking at my compressor wheel.. and man that set screw looks wrong to me. i have not seen any turbo pics of this so i wasn't sure. it looks like it shouldn't be backed out like this but who knows. i didnt want to put an allen wrench to it until i found out for sure. and to avoid any comments the dirt in the oil got there from the exterior of the orange hose during removal. i checked before i took it off. thanks for any help. ryan

Looks good to me from what I can see, kinda blurry. The turbo wheel is one solid piece with the shaft sticking through. It's threaded down onto the shaft. If it was coming off the wheel would jam against the inside of the housing and refuse to turn.

Yeah, what Kwik said. It is not a set screw, just the end of the threaded rod that goes all the way through. I guess you could use it to get more leverage on the shaft to loosen the wheel. Don't sweat it.

Wow, wycowboy. How did your wheel get like that? Almost looks like someone ran it without a filter for a while.

I'm envious of the wide open place that you get to call home. The traffic is thick and I can hear the freeway at midnight even though I live two miles away from it on the far side of a hill. The day that I retire my house goes up for sale and I'm OUTTA HERE!!!
