I have a 67 F-100 4X4 that originally has a 240 I-6 and I am getting ready to rplace the wiring under the hood. Right beside the battery on the inner fender there is a small relay looking thing (not the voltage regulator). It is about 1 1/2 inch square. I have not unwrapped all the wires to see where it's connected, yet. Do any of you know what this Thingamadoodle is and what its function is?
That is your starter cylinoid. The positive cable should connect to one side and the starter to the other. There should be two posts on the with wires connected to it. The altinator, Ingition switch and the regulator will be connected to it. I hope this helps.
1 1/2 " sq.? probably the HORN RELAY. If so, it has a three spade connector underneath. On my '70 it is between the battery and the starter cylinoid. I just replaced mine so the dang horn would honk.
