Question 05 Rear Sliding Window Rattle

First off, I love my '05 Lariat Supercrew 4x4. I took it to the Texas Hill Country just West of Austin over the weekend and had a chance to put the four wheel drive to work climbing up loose limestone & gravel roads to a plateau for some sunset tailgating (A few pics in the Gallery under Texas Stonehenge:

F-150 at Stonehenge ).

This thing rides so well off road with very little axle hop. It was great to open the sunroof and rear sliding window driving around out in the country. A small annoyance which I had been ignoring since I took delivery a month ago made itself much more apparent on the washboard roads. Seems like when driving over small, frequent, bumps (of which there are not many around town), when the sliding rear window is closed, there's an audible knocking/rattling noise. It goes away almost completely when the window is open. Since Ford already issued a TSB for the sliding window on the '04s, I would have thought the problem would be fixed on the '05s. Anyone other '05 owners with the sliding rear window experience this, and if so, was it repaired by the TSB for the '04 model? Thanks in advance for any help!

I believe the TSB out on the 04 for the rear power window rattle and squeal is for the 05 as well. Time for a trip to the dealer.

Thanks...Gonna schedule it with first oil change.

Hope the TSB won't result in new or different rattles!

Search TSB's, there's a different one than for '04

I don't have the TSB number available, but I had one done where they install 2 foam blocks just aft and astride the dome light in the headliner. Fixed my rattle with no recurrence since it was done two months ago.

I took mine in for the same rattle and they replaced the siding window track. It seemed to be gone for a short time, but its back now. It seems to be worse when its cool. Once its hot outside I don't notice it as much. I plan on taking it in again next month when I have some time off. Too bad I have to spend part of my vacation at the dealership.

if you have a moonroof, then it's probably not the rear window that is rattling... it's probably your headliner.... there is a TSB on this out there... i have the same problem.... they put a few more foam shims or blocks up between the liner and roof.....

I've got an '04 SCrew Lariat with the power rear sliding window, no moonroof. Just took the truck in about two weeks ago for the rattle, I want to say it was TSB 04-18-07. Anyway they replaced the sliding window track as outlined by Ford. Well the rattle didn't go away. Looks like Ford's fix for this isn't working... Called and left a message with the tech and he never got back to me. I've noticed that if the sliding window is pulled forward that the rattle disappears. I'm assuming that these extra foam inserts are accomplishing this. What is the TSB for the foam inserts? Does anyone else have a possible fix for this... I'm begining to wish I didn't even have the rear window...
