4x4 low range issue

Greetings all! I just recently noticed that my 93 4.0L 4x4 auto trans Ranger seems to have lost all interest in going into low range. It is engaging high range with no problem, you can hear the motor if you listen very closely, and needless to say on dry pavement it feels like driving a tank with a bad tread, so all is good there...lol. It has manual hubs installed instead of the automatic ones... (previous owner found that to be much more affordable) I have tried the neutral, foot on brake not moving, and no light on the dash nor low range. Not a huge deal considering I rarely need to pull building off their foundations, but it would be nice to have it work.

Thanx!

the missing light on the dash is controlled by the sweepers in the motor control on the transfer case, if the 4x4 is physicaly engaging, unless you realy want to pull the switch and clean it, leave things alone.... There is a good sticky on the explorer forum that covers the tear down
