I discovered this weekend that even with the temp control full over on cold the and the selector on vent that the air is much warmer than the out side air. This is on a a 2002 F-250 CC. Is there a duct that connects the vent system to outside air or does it come through the window base grills? Is there a way to adjust the temp? Please help, I hate running A/C wwhen I don't need it. This is a common problem with this heat/ac design.
Its the result of heater core flowing hot water all the time.If you have a manual for your truck you can see the design. There is no shut off of hot coolant flowing through the heater core which will raise the temp above outside ambient temp. This was and is a reason our yr truck (02) ac's air temp isn't the coldest in the summer.
Some guys put in a valve to shut down the flow through the core.
One other thing to chk is if the ac/heater selector works in all pos. Sometimes if there is any kind of vacum leak the blend door within the air duct plenium doesn't close or shift properly.
