2005 F250/350 radio removal?

How do you remove the stereo/cd player in the 2005 F250/350's? They don't have the holes like the previous years.

I had mine replaced by the alarm shop, and the guy siad the 05's are held in by screws or bolts.

So you have to take the whole dash out in order to remove the radio? What a pain. Thanks for the info.

Yes, the whole front panel of the dash comes off, and then the four bolts are exposed to remove the stereo. I took mine apart the night I got it hoping for auxilliary inputs on the back of the stereo, but it turns out there is just a proprietary Ford adapter that doesn't have anything available to plug into it...

Some things that I learned the hard way:

1. Pop the dash panel loose, but instead of disconnecting each individual wiring harness to each switch, check which switch assemblies will pop out of the openings in the panel. The cig lighter did this, and at least one or two other switches. This was much easier than freeing up each wiring harness.

2. Put the shift lever all the way down to 1 before you try to lift the panel out. I figured this out after a lot of wrestling/bending, and it seemed to be the best way.

3. There are extra wiring harnesses back there, and they confused the hell out of me when I started to reinstall the panel. You probably don't need to mark any wiring since the plugs are not interchangeable, but don't waste time looking for mates for every wire you find loose in the dash.
If anyone who knows how to do this properly wants to share some other suggestions, just start typing when you finish laughing...
