2.3 Idler Pulley Change

1991 FORD RANGER XLT 2.3/ 5-SPEED HOW IN THE HECK ARE YOU SUPPOSED TO CHANGE THIS? I WENT TO AUTOZONE AND BOUGHT THE TWO PULLEYS AND WENT TO CHANGE THEM, BUT THE ORIGINALS DO NOT HAVE A BOLT OR NUT...NOTHING.... ARE THEY PRESSED ON? DO I HAVE TO BUY A NEW BRACKET ASSEMBLY WITH THEM ALREADY ON IT?

Wink

If your talking about the tensioner pulley, you need to replace the whole assembly, the pulley itself is not replaceable. The idler pulley should have a bolt to remove so you can replace it.

Fixed It

Junk yard had the parts. 15.00, much easier on the pocket than the estimated 85.00 per pair from local dealership. Also found a few other parts that were needed. Whoo hoo. Thanks guys.
