Cool pic...broke 44 front when i landed
Check out the new first pic under my mudracing gallery...This was 2004's first race in gregory SD when i still had the 38.5's on (42's now)...also first race i entered with the newly swapped 460. You can just see the tractor pull headers over the hood. Also the first of many dana 44s that i have broken. The pic was snapped actually when i was about to land, i actually had all four wheels about 4 ft off the ground. Lap belts and bench seats just dont quite cut it when you land a F-250 from that much air. Suffered a slight concussion, broken nose and blood lip...hehe. That is the sole reason it sports racing seats and five point harnesses now. Once i get my scanner working i will get some new pics posted. hope ya'll enjoy the pic. Later.

[QUOTE=Thomsen]... Also the first of many dana 44s that i have broken. QUOTE]
Does that mean the first that you have broken ever, just one of the many D44's that have been broken in this world
-or-
Does that mean that you've broken many before and dont know what "first of many" is used for, and its truly not the first?
Sounds cool, but its common and expected when you jump a 250 on a D44...
Which brings up another point- IF you have broken many D44's before and it was ONE of MANY (not first of many), then your quite the intelligent offroader, as you have repetitively replaced your front axle w/ a D44.
D44= , and
Edit: you need a pic of carnage, I know what a jumping truck looks like, but I have a D60 : )

That is actually at a mud bog, i'm not just jumping it to be jumping it. Another thing...if i could of found a dana 60 that would fit in my budget at the time, trust me it would be under there. And yes that is the very first one that i broke (housing anyway). And believe it or not i had jumped it before and the 44 actually lived through it. I could find plenty of 44's around here for cheap so i just kept replacing it. With races nearly every weekend i didnt have much time to fab up mounts for a dana 60 front. and last but not least...chill out. if you got some cool pics of you doing something...post it.

Im cool...
I was just commenting on how fragile D44's are on 35's, much less 38.5's or 42's...
You could invest a few hours into the axle and truss it (if you can weld-its not worth a kit) and not have to replace it again when you jump it...or if the axles are that cheap, just replace it again
I never have a camera w/ me, however, just because I dont have pics doesnt mean I havnt done anything cool/stupid - like jump or rockcrawl in my 22 foot F350 on miniscule 35's.
Edit: "Mr Man", what is the difference in me not caring if I have soggy carpet for two days and him not caring if he has a broken 44 up front? (besides the cost difference of each)
I suggested that he wasnt the brightest because (I incorrectly thought, it wasnt clear) he repeatedly replaced his broken 44's. Around here 44's arent cheap, SO it would be wiser to just swap in a D60 while your at it and spen 200 more...
So what is not intelligent about my profile, "Man"? Yes, I drove my truck into a river. Yes, I do it often. My diesel engine, a 7.3 L IDI turbo, (its the thing under the hood that goes VROOM) has little electrical wiring (the colorful wires that can shock you and give you a boo-boo) and is therefore impervious to water as long as the air intake is above water(the thingy under the hood has lungs like we do, so it has to suck in air too). Get all that?
Edit again: the concussion parts pretty cool though

My point is this: Thomsen took the time to show us a cool pic of his truck. If you think your truck is better, that's fine. But there's no need to reply with a rude comment (at least I thought it was rude).
I'm on this forum to learn and enjoy everyone else's truck - not to start a pi$$ing contest. So this is my last comment on this thread.
Thanks.

I know what the vents are, yes...I drain the water after off-roading too... That is if I get any in the diffs, I have extended my breather tubes up higher than my air intake. But I go too deep sometimes...
The engine-vroom stuff was not there to insult, just as an explaination if needed...

I really dont consider driving into a river/lake (i've done it...got water into EVERYTHING, got pics too.)stupid, i dont consider jumping a rig stupid, and doing anything that you want to do with your pickup is stupid. You just have to deal with the consequences. I have fun doing it, and i have fun fixing my rig up when i break it. And no i dont tink dis dang forum is a frickin enlash clash. Well anyway i just thought I would show you guys, what i thought, was a pretty cool pic. Go Big or Go Home. Thanks for the input Mr.Man. Later

You might be a Jeep guy if you get giddy at the thought of a Dana 44 axle.
Isn't that the truth! I can't complain about mine, and I sure aint going to swap it out when it serves me fine, but the jeep clowns sure brag about the rubicon with its stock 44s. I think it is funny since all jeep really did was upgrade to the old stuff since they reduced it to economy car trash for a while. Maybe I should start bragging to them about my stock 44

Personally I think it's a cool pic, love to see someone else beating on thier rigs, after all isn't that why we all built them?
I haven't broken my D44.......YET! but then again with only running 34" tires, and only a little over 500hp guess it's not a problem, although sometimes I do catch a little air (noting like that though), and my trucks a little lighter. But I do wonder if I should upgrade to moly axles, cause we are gonna find out what 35s, and 800hp (700+ft/lbs) will do to stock axles, oh well I still have to spare sets.
Bravo on the letting us see the cool pics keep it up<a href='http://www.smileycentral.com/?partner=ZSzeb008_ZNxdm824BCUS' target='_blank'><img src='http://smileys.smileycentral.com/cat/23/23_30_109.gif' alt='You Rock' border=0></a>
