well this is pretty stupid but i was wondering if i could get a step by step instruction kinda thing on how to replcae the oil filter and oil in my 1990 ford ranger 2.9l 4 wheel drive.
Pick up a copy of a Haynes service manual at an auto parts store for around $10. It has tons of good DIY info with pictures, including on how to do oil changes.
You might also check your local library. Mine has a whole bunch of service manuals. Also, the manuals sold at the auto parts stores are usually not wrapped, so you can thumb through them for free :-)
Here is a writeup I've found via a Google search that describes the basic process... http://www.nd.edu/~lego/grp2/www/oilchang.htm
Look in your owner's manual to find out how much oil you need and the type of filter.
