My 4.6 is tried and true. Raced my dad's 04 Screw 4x4 with the 5.4 (stock) with my 04 4.6 STX with only gears, chip and pipes. To tell the truth, it wasn't what I thought it would be. I thought that the 5.4 would either walk me or be close to the end. Ended up I beat him to the next light by 1/2 a truck length. Not saying my 4.6 is fast. But it will hold its own. (Yes I understand it was in a way heavier vehicle). Lets just say dad wasn't to happy.
Pretty sure its 3.73. And f-150 to f-150 is apples to oranges? I understand there is a hugh weight difference, but the 5.4 should blow away my truck if half the talk i hear on this forum is true.
You are not being fair to his truck. Not only is his truck a lot heavier, you have the addons, uping your ponies to maybe 85% of his. With the weight being what it is, it's no surprise you could beat him. Now if he mods his truck the same way, well....

One time I was down around Menphis I watched KWs, Peterbilts and Macks hammer it out in the quarter. Guys will race anything from a riding lawnmower to an earthmover. What the heck, as long as your careful of others.
You know, I played king of the hill as a kid...

Along those same lines....I have a 67 bronco with 5" of lift, 35" tires and all the other off road equipment that runs 13.60's with a 347 stroker and trick flow heads. Its not a mustang either.....but you should see the look on people's face when their 05 mustang gets beat by a 38 year old four wheel drive.
As for the diesel, they use nitrous and propane injection for big horsepower increases.
