the only automatic o/d tht would fit would be a e4od.it would require a computor to make it work.
i would not reccomend this trans to anyone,it is very troublesome, stick wit a c6 or manual trans.

The E4OD is not a bad tranny at all.AS LONG AS ALL OF THE UPGRADES AND TECH BULLETINS ARE PERFORMED. Well with that said(I may just be trying to convince myself that the last $2800 go-around was the end all to beat all). You didnt mention if you had a 4x or 2x and which tranny you currently have. If you have the C-6 tranny, it would be ashame to get rid of it.The C-6 is an awsome reliable automatic. If you have a 2x I would consider, installing an overdrive unit at the drive shaft. Its really a trick set up it gives you an overdrive,in every gear,(activated by a button on the gear shifter). Gear Vendors and US Gear both make units in OD or underdrive.I dont know anyone with a GearVendors unit but a freind of mine has had a US Gear unit on his rig for years and loves it.

I've heard the same thing about the E40D. Then again, I'm sure they could be built to work reliably. I too, have the 460. I've got a C6 and wouldn't think of getting rid of the best auto tranny Ford every built. I've considered the Gear Venders unit, but can't swing it right now. Mine's a 4wd, and it'll work fine 2wd. The Gear Venders unit 'locks out' in 4wd. It's only turning the rear shaft. Who needs OD in 4wd, anyway. Anyway.. I've done a lot of research and I agree that an aftermarket OD unit would be the only way to got.

Now here's a guy I can relate to. I often wondered if anyone had ever put a Detroit Diesel in a pickup and was considering taking up the project myself at some future point.
Way to go Redbear!!!
