Hey Tim, does that information hold for 1956 too? My code reads:
12L-1262P-31
I know the 12L is the 12th of November, and you've provided the info for the 1262P. I found a reference somewhere (can't find it at the moment) that indicated the 31 was the district code, 31 for Cincinnati. Does your book show the district code appended on like that for 1956? If it does, then I have mine fully decoded too! Kewl.
Missy, do you have a district code at the end of the production code? It should be a two-digit number.
George,
The book I use is Cars & Parts Magazine's Catalog of Ford Truck ID Numbers 1946-1972
'56 uses the same info for production code.
It doesn't show district codes until 1963 and then describes them as follows:
"The D.S.O. CODE: Trucks built to Domestic Special Order have the order number and the District Code number of the district which ordered the unit stamped in the space. If the truck is a regular production unit, only the District Code will appear."
District codes in this book are all 2 number codes as per your 31 for Cincinnati.
Missy, do you have a district code at the end of the production code? It should be a two-digit number.
No it doesn't. Here is the complete rating plate info for my truck.
