I have an 8.8 axle that I am building to put under my Jeep TJ. The axle is from an early model explorer that had drum brakes. I also have a donor axle (from a lincoln mark VII) that is ready to give up the goods (disk brakes) if they will bolt on to the explorer axle.
Will this work? Is is a straight swap from the lincoln axle to the explorer axle? What is involved if it is not a bolt on deal?
I can run the drums if necessary or maybe try to find an explorer with disk brakes to scavenge from. This stuff is really expensive up here (Alaska), so I am trying to save money by using the lincoln parts if I can.
