C.O.P. wiring on 99 5.4L
Last weekend, I was driving from Sioux City, IA to Abilene, TX. Just north of Topeka, KS I noticed an intermittent miss in the engine. Just every now and again. Sure enough, after this happening a couple of times, the check engine light came on. It smoothed out, and I made it home, with only a couple more intermittent misses. I figured I had a C.O.P. going bad. Monday I took it to Autozone, and got the codes. P0354 (#4 circuit malfunction) and P0304 (#4 misfire). I figured I'd swap #1 and #4 C.O.P.'s and see if it comes back on #4 or not (isolate the C.O.P. or another problem).
In the process, I found the connector for #4 has the clip broken off (The coil was changed in the past). The connector just slides on and off. I also noticed the connector on #4 is gray but the others are black. Was there a change in the past, and a mechanic was to lazy to do the hard to reach ones? Can this connector be replaced or do I have to get another harness? Or would I be better off Red Greening it and wrapping it in duct tape?
