How do you prime a oil pump on a 4.2 ? I finally got engine back in truck, started first try , but no oil pressure . I did what the Haynes manual and Mellings instructions said to do. Still no oil pressure.

 

Hmm, stick around...I know how to prime a filter, so I'd guess a pump is the same way? I really don't know for sure...but to prime an oil filter (of course you only do it if the filter goes on straight up and down...you just fill it with oil before the change.

The pump may be a totally different beast all together though.

 

I call Road Master where I bought long block from and they said to use Vaseline or or light grease. Thats the way they do it.
