Chebbie question for #######/#######2

No really, I'm serious.

A friend of mine drives an '81 cheb. 4x4, and since she isn't terribly inclined with a wrench, maintenance seems to have defaulted to me :-(

The problem is the thing is a total basket case. It seems to be sound mechanically, but looks a total wreck.

My question is do you know of any good sources to get a hood, wing window glass, doors, you get the idea.

Local salvage yards are totally useless, and all of the fenders have been trimmed by her 38" swampers and aren't salvageable.

Thanks,

BFM

My sympathy for your friend and her Chevy! I'm Ford slanted myself, but have rebuilt several 73-86 Chevy trucks. Best cheap fix are the import replacement parts. All the parts you mentioned are available; try JC Whitney or some larger auto parts dealer catalogs. Just be sure you liberally coat them with undercoating and finish paint quickly to avoid early rust!

Yeah watch out for the rust. My grandpa bought a new GMC 2500 in 1973 and it was literally ate up 2 years later.

One good thing about working on cheby's is that the parts are very cheap and can be found everywhere. Of course thay need to be cheap and available, if you get my meaning!
