psd everywhere but no v-10s

is it just me or does it seem that ford is pushing the diesels on everybody or what. 2 years back dealers had at least 2 or 3 v-10s on thier lots, now you dont see them at all. now i'm not talkin bad about the diesel its a good engine but let me know if you guys are thinking the same thing.

Oddly, we've got better availability on V10's than we do PSD's. We took two extra V10's at the very end because we were...err...asked to. Just a reflection of the market.

Isn't the Powerstroke in well over 50% of the production of Superduties every year? Seems like it took Ford a while to catch on to that - they would produce more V8s and V10s that would sit on the dealers' lots while diesel trucks were nowhere to be found. Maybe they are finally running production closer to reality? (This is not a comment on the relative merits of any engine for a given situation, just the truth of how the sales numbers are. For instance, I bet wayyyyyy over 50% of the fleet sales are diesels, which skews the overall numbers higher no matter how many private owners buy the gas versions.)

Just got a copy of myFord Magazine a week or three ago. Cover feature is a King Ranch with a V-10. No mention of a Powerstroke anywhere in the mag.

It was the opposite for the Excursions around here, they all have V10's. I had to drive 200 miles to find a used Diesel X. The new ones that the dealers had were mostly 5.4's with a couple V10's.

In the northwest, most fleets of Superduty trucks are either running the gas motors. In a fleet situation drivers tend to let the trucks sit and idle. Along with the $5000 dollar premium, it is a hard option to justify. Most of the large excavation contractors are running gas motors in their fleet trucks, even though all of their equipment in diesel.

check out http://www.woodhouseford.com in Blair, Nebraska. I bought my F250 there and at the time they had about 50 V10's in a crew cab. That was on 2/12/2005. In all, they had 235 F250 4x4 crew cabs to choose from on that day also with different engine configs. I was in and out with a new vehicle, picked out, financed and serviced in 3 hours.

I also had a hard time finding the v10. Searched about 10 dealers inventories before I found 1 v10 lariat cc. Drove 60 miles to see it, drive it, and buy it! This is the Tampa area of Florida. Diesels are everywhere.

Just me, but when spending the cash on a truck like this why not buy diesel? Runs better, lasts longer, able to jump a building in a single bound. Plus resale is more. I just could not understand buying a gasser when I bought my '05. Side note, I was not looking for gas but don't remember seeing a single one on three lots. I am sure 1-2 were there but I did not see em.

A 5.4 Excursion? Wow...don't even stock gas Ex's, but may have to (may have to take a V10 to get another PSD). Can't imagine stocking a 5.4.

Yea I was suprised also, I found quite a few used 5.4 Ex's also. What was weird to me was that almost all the new and used Super Duty's were diesel with a couple V10s here and there and the ocasional 5.4, but almost all the Ex's were v10s if 4x4 and I even found a 5.4 4x4. I talked myself out of dropping $45K on a new 6.0 Excursion and ended up getting a 01 with the 7.3 for half the money. I'm glad I did because now I can actually afford to add the aftermarket goodies I wanted to.
