Go ahead... gripe and complain about hopping in and out and not wanting to buckle your seatbelt. I guarantee you I hop in/out many times more in a day than you do. I'm a city mail carrier... we are required to buckle our belt any time the truck is in gear. Let's see... I probably hop out/hop in and buckle up about 300 times a day. You know what? It saved my life one day. Get in the habit and it won't be annoying!

I think Ford should make it so you can't disable the chime.

I agree also! I don't care how short of a trip you take, or how many times you hop in and out of your truck, it can (and will) save your life

My friend who usually wears his seatbelt but did not buckle up because he was only going on a short trip around the corner will tell you from experence. He hit a pole and was thrown from the drivers seat through the windshield on the pasenger side. Somehow he came out of it alive, but badly banged up and scared on his face and body.
Now, every time he gets in his truck guess what he does even before he turns the vehicle on?

Not trying to "Mother" you, just giving you somthing to think about.

D-Maxx just asked a simple question, now he is in a counseling session. I think we should allow people to ask the questions they wish. That is what makes this site what it is. Just my two cents, not trying to upset anyone.

1. make sure parking brake is on
2. in park
3. turn ign on...do not start
4 . wait for lil yellow "seatbelt guy" to dim(instrument cluster 1 min.(not centerdash words)
5. buckle/unbuckle 9 times in 50 seconds ending unbuckled
6. "seatbelt guy" will flash
7. once again within 10 secs buckle and unbuckle
8. "seatbelt guy" will blink 4 times(i think) in 3 secs(doing this from memory)
9. repeat to turn back on.
10. OPTIONAL wear seatbelt

this can be done individually for any buckles with sensors.

do believe it's in the book around page 190 seatbelt maintenance in case I skipped something.

Law enforcement perspective...
Life is a counseling session....
always wear your seatbelt.. 77% percent of accidents (based on national averages) happen within 5 miles of home. Common belief of seatbelt non-wearers is that short trips around home don't require seatbelts...

Not preaching, because I think you are big enough to make your own decisions but there is documented reports of fatality accidents at 12 miles per hour. So don't just wear it on the highway, wear it in town too. Besides I don't enjoy seeing all the blood guts, and brains.

A faulty airbag sensor can set the airbag off at anytime. Especially if you have a little "fender bender" that, by way of inertia, pushes you towards the steering wheel (because your seatbelt is not on) and places your chest right about where the airbag will inflate. This can cause you to break ribs, puncture lungs, and cardiac arrest.
I have a video of a firefighter who was killed when he was working on a TRAINING situation, and trying to remove a "victim" from a car. The airbag suddenly deployed for no reason, throwling the firefighter out of the car, and eventually causing him to die.

Think twice about it. It only takes a second to fasten your seatbelt.
