I have the Predator in my 03 Ford 6.0. I have only used it in economy tune. It ran great and MPH seemed to increase I was getting 18 MPG on average. This issue is when I went to the tow tune and then back to economy. I am now only getting 10 MPG.
I was running the economy and wanted to try the tow tune for a heavy load I had. I could not remember if I could go right from one tune to another or if I had to go back to stock and then load the new one. I decided to be safe and went from Economy to the stock then right to the tow tune. The truck ran fine anfter the tune. I then drove home and a few days later wanted to go back to economy. I was able to get on the net and did some reading and found out I can go right from one tune to another so I loaded right from Tow to economy. This is where the MPG has gone to crap. The truck seems runs fine otherwise.
Now the dilemma, I was thinking about flashing back to stock and then reload the economy tune. I need to contact support and get there input but was wonder if anyone out there has seen similar issues.
This may not help. I only tow in 100hp mode. Have you tried updating the software? They release new downloads every month or so. I haven't noticed any mileage decrease but I have only used 100hp mode.
I updated the OS to the latest before I installed it. I also have been running the econ tune for 10 days hoping the transmission and engine just had to relearn.
You stated " I only tow in 100hp mode" What weight are you pulling? When I am towing I am pulling HEAVY! 15K LBS of hay at a time. I have the gauges and the pod but have not had enough time to install them. So I am hesitant to tow heavy in anything but the tow mode right now. I run the econ tune when I am not towing or towing light.
What temps are you seeing on the EGT? I assume you have the gauges due to towing in 100HP mode.
My travel 24ft loaded is about 12k maybe a little less. It is uphill from my house to the desert. I see 950-1k max post turbo. I would put the guages up asap. Whenever I see the trans or egt's get to hot I always back down a little. That extra insurance is priceless and the security to look and see exactly what is going on. I just went to stock and uplugged both batteries for an hour and drove it stock for a week. I didn't see any increase/decrease. Wanted to see with the intake/exhaust if that would make a difference.
I may order the SCT w/ Custom tunes next week. Depating.
You aren't supposed to tow anything in the 100hp mode I thought, they warn not to do it at least. How long was it after you reinstalled the economy tune that you checked the mpg? I would give it a little while to readapt. I haven't had any problems. I'm getting about 17 with the economy tune.
You can tow in 100, but you need to watch the EGT all the time. If you don't the temp gets to over 1,200 real quick. I run mine at 65hp all the time and I didn't lose or gain MPG, and I have 30,000km on it now. My truck weight is 10,000LB. and I get 15mpg (canadian) combined hi-way/city.
