Hi All, I am looking into an RCO on an 05F150 SC STX 4x4, I LOVE it!! I was looking in the door jamb, and it has the Transmission code as "A" what transmission is this??Svc dept tells me its a 4R100, I doubt it.. Is this the only Auto trans for this truck? Or is there a HD version for the 5.4liter?

Nope they were wrong here is the correct info
A= 4 speed automatic 4R70E.

 

Does that mean that "U" is no longer used for the 4R70W? I also heard that they made a 4R75W..Just wondering, because on my test drive the truck shifted like a dream... I have a 96 with that transmission, and they defintel have come a long way then
