95' bronco or 96' f-250

heres the deal, after i blew the 300 six in my last f-150 im looking for something else. the two trucks im considering are a 96' f-250 PSD 4x4 with 88,000 miles, the other is a 95' bronco with a 351 4x4 and 93,000 miles. now the 250 will cost around $11,000 and i could get the bronco for $6,000. dad wants me to get the bronco, i want the 250 PSD. it will be used just for getting around and pulling boats here and there. ohh and cost is not a factor, so what do you think, is dad right? or am i?

note: im also gonna post this in the big bronco forum so that the replys arent 1-sided

Thanks
Ben

yeah, i'm with Robbgt on this one. thats some really good milage for a '96. if its been taken care of, and if you do your part, it will put out over 200k for you. better gas milage for pulling anything too. i someday with to own a bronco, but for what i do, the PSD fits better.

PSD no question! I have a 96 F350 PSD and love the thing to death. My brother has a 92 bronco with the 302 that I can out run, out haul, out pull, without a sweat and I get better gas mileage. However ease of parking and off roading he can romp me. I do have a 2x4 and crewcab though so obviously he can off road and manuver better. Before I got my 96 i had a 90 F250 with a 351 and it didn't even compare to the PSD either. the PSD will cost more to maintain, but in the long run much cheper, it will run far more miles than the 351 will. theres my thoughts yo

The PSD. You won't regret it. 88,000 for a '96 is pretty darn good.

i had a '95 bronco 351, bought it new(its in my gallery) and it was a PIG. i had a cat back dual exhaust and a K&N filter charger kit. that thing could barley pull my 4000# boat. there was even a time i was coming back from a prefishing for a tornament with my father( at sterling res. in NE Co.) and we where driving into a strong headwind and the truck did not have enough power to get out of second gear. now that i think of it the same thing happened on the way to lake powell one year, my buddy had a dodge cummins, i bought my PSD the year later

As you may see i'm a bronco guy. It all comes down to what will you use it for. The bronco is not made to haul stuff unless you want to put it inside on the cargo area's carpet, not to mention constantly opening that rear window to access your cargo, on the otherhand, everything is protected from the weather. If you are only going to tow a little the Bronco is sufficient, yet heavy towing or constant towing i would say get the PSD.

Just a thought- Since price isn't a factor you say, buy both. No, not to have two vehicles, but to make one sweet ride!! Take the bronco body, shorten the 250's frame and create a 3/4 ton Diesel powered Bronco on the 250's chassis. I have already thought extensivly about doing this to my 93 bronco, but lack of money and time have never allowed this to fall through. Also, i would put it on a 1ton chassis, not a 250, i mean if you are gona go through all that, might as well make it on a 350

How come everyone in here says get the PSD?? What if he is only going to be towing a jetski and will never need that PSD?? At least the bronco guys are trying to find out more of what he needs and not what they have!! https://www.ford-trucks.com/forums/s...d.php?t=358862

Not to mention, a bronco with a 6" lift and 35's is bad a$$!!! I say get the bronco, and dump that other 5 grand in a lift, mudders, chrome rims, lockers (front and rear, possibly drop in some dana 60's), engine mods, exhaust, etc, etc, etc!!! What do you guys have to say now??

it would still be a pig, with big tires, a big lift, chrome rims, front and rear lockers and engine mods.i am not talking form inexperience, i had one, a nice one, and when confronted with the thought of trying to make it a good performing truck (putting the money into it that it would require) or buying a new truck that already did the job, i dumped the bronco as fast as i could...

sorry, forgot the 4.56 gears

Besides, everyone is driving a PSD or pickup nowadays. There are less bronco's and each one has character. I'd take a bronco anyday, then again i don't do much towing or hauling, but i like that fact that if needed i can and have done so.

If you feel the need to compensate for something else and owning a pickup truck means you are a real man, by all means buy the pickup. An intelligent decision would be to decide what purpose the vehicle is to serve and choose that way. You can't, however, come to a site like this and ask that question. Many of the people own trucks just to own trucks. They are polished and pampered, lifted and tweaked, and haul girlfriends or baseball gloves. Trucks aren't just for work anymore. They somehow represent status. If money isn't an object, and you don't need a pickup box (or don't need to prove anything), get the absolute best of both worlds. A modern day Bronco with a PSD-get an Excursion!!
