I have been negoting on a truck based on the x plan. We have been negotiating the trade value and the intrest rates.
I had them send me the invoice, and on the invoice were some misc hand written numbers...
I asked how I knew what the X- plan price was.
The dealer said that the hand written numers that said fleet to stock was the cost added to the invoice. This totaled $1039.00. They said that number added to the invoice was there actual cost. ??? I don't know. Anyway to run a vin# and tell?
If there are hand written numbers increasing the price I would not go for it. On the invoice it shows the A/Z price and also the X-plan price. It should be a couple hundred bucks under dealer invoice. This link will give you a x-plan price from Ford-Direct. http://www4.forddirect.fordvehicles....AXZ&PlanType=X
Yep, don't go for hand written anything! Mine was a printout from the dealers computer and I sat in his office and watched him enter the options and print it out - shows invoice, A plan and Xplan prices...
Ditto from boomer21 and superv10. I bought my truck with the D-plan. On the invoice given to me it had all of the prices listed for X - A - D. Ask them for this invoice or go somewere that will produce this invoice. It is and should be the same at all dealers.
Sounds like the dealer is trying to make some quick dough. The only thing that you should have to pay on top of the x-plan price is the taxes ( ~ 3%, I think it was) and the shipping. My shipping was $595. My final cost was $1700 less than the dealer could buy it for. The dealer can not change your pricing, it is what it is.
The simplest way is to know someone that works at a Ford plant - they generally get two X-plan PIN forms a year to hand out.
...or you can hope Ford has another lousy year like back in 2002, when they mailed an X-plan PIN application to every Ford stockholder; they were handing them out like candy, trying to increase sales!
