Great question lawman-
I switched over to the M1 grease, since I like their motor oil and figured that it wouldn't be an issue... But I had no technical position to rely upon.

Lawman, you are fine. The Mobil 1 grease is fully compatible with all types of moly greases, and even lithium greases, and a great upgrade I might add. The Mobil 1 grease will "shine" in extremes, in other words at freezing temps or high HOT temps, as compared to dino moly greases. There are several tests citing this, with resulting data, on the internet. The Mobil 1 grease is excellent, you made a good choice. I have Royal Purple's product in my grease gun now, but the bottom line is for the difference in price, synthetic grease, or even semi-synthetic grease is a better value all around. Moly "dino" greases are fine for hinges, and other light duty applications. But for our wheel bearings, ball joints, U-joints, suspension components, synthetic grease is the answer...

I have used M1 grease uneventfully for many years , but I went to Valvoline Synpower for my Ford because the M1 is not qualified to meet the Ford specification (at least it was not at the time I checked). I don't know if the M1 had not been tested, or if it failed in some area, or whatever, but I do believe that, where possible, it is wise to go with Ford's recommendations.

The Ford specification requires moly and the Valvoline has it, Mobil does not. The only real compatibility issues with greases are the thickeners. I dont remember the specifics, but bentonite clay, aluminum, lithium or others may not be compatible with each other. The base oils, dino or synthetic are not the problem.
