Billet Grilles - why no emblem?

I see many of the Carriage Works billet grilles on Ford pickups and they don't seem to have the front emblem, unless the grille is an overlay style with a hole cut out.

Is this just personal preference or can the emblem NOT be installed on the grille? I can't see why you couldn't reinstall the oval, except that maybe it would end up looking "glued on". I guess I could understand this since there is not truly a mounting place for the oval. Can you all fill me in on this?

thanks

They dont include it because that blue oval costs the manufacturer big $$. If they just put a blank (to reuse the stock oval), they dont have to pay anyone royalties. There are ways to mount the oem oval with bracketry, but you need to get a little bit ingenious. And yes, as 2004 screw stated, some manufacturers out there have started to make billet ovals.

You can do what I did. I took the emblem off the stock grill, then threaded the in side of the two studs on the back, I got longer ss panhead screws and large washers to span the new grill bars. I painted them black (the screws and washer). Put a little blue loctight on the screws. I got about a $1.00 in it.

thanks guys, I understand that the grille makers don't provide the emblem, but i was starting to think that it was difficult to MOVE the original from the old grille to the new billet. Or that maybe the new billet grille had a side-to-side radius that the original oval would not conform to.
But if FX4Jim can do it - SO CAN I!!! heh heh

My 150 is black with chrome bumpers and I have applied the Zdecal Black Oval overlay to all the blue ovals...so I think I would want to keep the oval on front.

Thanks again

The reason I chose a Billet grille was to get rid of the HUGE oval. I am a true blue FORD dude but they made this oval wayyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy to big.

On the back of the truck it looks way out of line. You have the tailgate handle above the Oval and on the left the F150 emblem. You cannot remove either the Oval or Emblem because you have holes all over the place.

This is the only gripe I have with the new body style. I am still trying to get the FORD Oval setup done - removing the blue piece!

I think you already answered your own question, it's just a matter of personal preference. Personally, I feel our grille opening is so big that is looks too plain without the emblem on the big billet grille. I just remounted my stock emblem with some 3M double sided tape and it's being holding up good for 10 months now. I got one or 2 pics in my gallery.

THAT'S the ticket!!! Again I'm black & chrome with the Black oval overlay on the emblems. Think I'll go with the shiny grill and remount that black oval smack dab in the middle.

Thanks guys...as always

I have figured out why they do not want the FORD blue oval on the billet grilles. It is because they do not want to scare Chevy and Dodge driver's off the road.It would cause entirely too many accidents. Good Luck!
