The tow package had the quad shocks, rear AND front sway bars, along with a four core radiator and an auxilary tranmission fluid cooler to keep engine and tranny cool during towing operations. The LS was still an option even with the tow package.
I think that I have the towing package. I definitely have the HD radiator, I had to replace it and I had to measure a part of it to determine which one it was. I definitely have the quad shocks too, all I need to do is look at it. I can't recall about the sway bars, I would have to look again. I think that there is one on the front, I don't recall one on the back but again, I'd have to look. And the auxilliary transmission cooler - I don't recall ever seeing one. I have the tranny cooler lines that go through the radiator. Is that what they are talking about? If not, where would the auxilliary cooler be located? I have a 1990 XLT, 5.8, E4OD.
Oh yeah and I have a LS diff on the back too. I didn't check the front for being LS, I didn't know that they put them on the front. I did change all of the lubricants and did not put any friction modifier in the front diff (I did for the back though).
Actually now that I think about it, I think that I do have a sway bar on the back. Sometimes when I look at the truck from a certain angle, I can see an "arm" with a bushing on it, connected to something, and it's near the rear differential, towards the outside of the truck. It sort of hangs down a bit. That's probably a sway bar, but it's dark now so I can't check it.
My 94 has the towing package it has all the accessories you mentioned, including a positraction in the front and back I don't know if the front posi was added later, I will have to check with the original owner. The aux.trans cooler is located infront of the radiator on the drivers side of the truck.
I have all of the parts described, AND limited slip! (Yay) The auxillary trans cooler is visible through the grille, on the passenger side, right in front of the a/c condensor. It's about 12" by 6", it's sort of a phosphate grey color, if it isn't coated with many bugs. The factory coolers usually have hard preformed lines going to them.
The nice thing about the rear sway bar is that it simply clamps to the 8.8 axle. I know your truck is basically stock but those who may want to lift their trucks and keep the rear sway bar for on-road stability can by simply replacing the end links with longer ones. When you want to run off road, you can unclamp it from the axle and secure it up to a crossmember on the frame to help increase articulation.
OK my truck has front and rear sway bars, quad shocks on front, LS differential, and heavy duty cooling. It does not have the auxilliary transmission cooler. So it has everything but the cooler; and today I located a cooler and will see about installing it.
GS - yeah I saw that, about the rear sway bar. At first I didn't know what it was, a sway bar, or what; because it seemed different from the ones on cars. But as you said, it clamps to each side of the diff, forward of the axle; and then it goes up and over the pumpkin, still forward of the axle. I don't know that I'll be doing any off-roading severe enough to have to remove it, but it's nice to know. As far as the front, it does not look removeable that easily, maybe it is though. I know that it has two clamps on the frame in front of the engine but I don't know if it designed to be removed like that.
