i have a '77 highboy w/ a 400. i rebuilt the 2150 w/ a kit from napa. runs good down the road, idles ok, but when i start from a stop or turn a corner and get in it again it wants to die, unless i either accelerate slowly at first or tap the throttle a quick one , then its fine. is this a float issue, or maybe an idle mix issue?

You might want to pick the idle up just a bit, then bring it back down by leaning the idle mix out.
