rear window air leak

Hi everyone,

I have a 99 Ranger with a solid rear window. Lately, I've been noticing extra noise and vibration from the lower part of my rear window. I got to checking it out this morning, and found that the trim around the window is coming loose from the body of the truck. (The window is properly attached the window trim, but the trim seems to be coming loose from the truck) It appears to be loose all the way across the bottom. When I close the door on my truck, I can see the window bulging to let air out. (I'm assuming thats how this all came about in the first place. This is the factory window, never replaced.

The real question is what to do from here... could I apply sealant or adhesive to the loose area? Pop the whole window out and reseal it? Take it to a body shop and let them do it? Cost is in issue here but preventing the problem from returning is probably a bigger one.

Thanks for you replies, Jim

p.s. any idea what a body shop might charge for such a repair?
will my insurance glass goverage cover this?

My manual shows the window is bolted in, are they tight?

you were right..

Ken, you were right. I pulled some of the interior trimwork back and I found three loose bolts. I just got my tires balanced(professionally) and now a quiet rear window! I have to go to the dentist tomorrow morning to get a lost filling replaced, but at least I'm psyched for the drive!!

Thanks a lot!
Jim
