What do you think of the stock subwoofer???

I am tryig to figure out what to do about this so please let me know what all of you think... I have a chance to get a brand new stock enclosure w/ the 8" sub & amp for cost @ my dealership. I need to know for the most part if everyone is happy w/ how it performs. Some PRO's & CON's would be great

Thanks

Oh man, go for it and I do not think you will ever look back.I LOVE MINE! I was going to buy another F250 however, the audiophile system was not available. This was not the only factor that swayed me to the F150, but if it had not been offered I might be driving a 05 F250 SD 4x4 instead of F150 4x4.

The stock Audiophile w/ subwoofer is awesome. It's the best sounding car-audio system I've even owned. I also have the factory DVD and the thing sounds like a Dolby movie theater.

it is very good for a factory option, but it could be a little louder

Hauling some teammates to a lacrosse game with a rap CD blasting, They couldn't believe the sub was only an 8. One of the guys swore it hit harder than his dual 10 setup.

i think its nice if you got it when you buy the truck but if theres work to be done to get it in and wired and everything else just go aftermarket, you can get something a lot better, probably for the same amount of money too.

Love the Audiophile, but at this point your best bet is to do a little comparison shopping.

GREAT info / Thanks to all that gave me their thoughts. I should have gave you more info to start & am sorry I didn't. I will now:
I did not get the up-graded system @ purchase date because I have a good friend that gets all audio @ wholesale prices & knew I would get what I wanted much cheapier from there / aftermarket.
I took out the stock system COMPLETELY & have a great sound system now. I just wanted to add a woofer to it so its complete. I know I can put together something that would be much better than the stock woofer & price would be close. I will tell you this / I am getting the enclosure, woofer, amp brand new from FMCo. at employees cost ( we'll say $200 )
So this is the deal / I could buy aftermarket stuff & spend MUCH MUCH more on great name brand stuff & get enough bass to shake houses as I drive by OR go w/ the stock woofer that fits neatly under back seat & have it do what I want w/out bothering people in their homes.
As for the wiring I do not know if its there or not? Anyone check that didn't get the up-graded system when they bought theirs? It might be there since many of the other options that I've looked for have been so far just not visible. Even if not its a piece of cake to run wires from battery to enclosure. Instalation will not cost me anything.

So I ask you all again now that you are armed w/ all my info / would you go w/ the stock designed woofer system @$200 or aftermarket

I LOVE THIS SITE

One thing to keep in mind. I recently swapped to an 05 Delphi built Audiophile 6 disc w/ MP3 capability to replace my non-MP3 Visteon made Audiophile 6 disc. The sound quality sucked! The 04 and early 05 production 6 disc w/ Audiophile made by Visteon is amazingly better in overall sound quality. The 04 and early 05 Audiophile ROCKS!! It is the best factory sound system ever put in a Ford, and sounds as good, maybe even a little better than the upgraded systems in E-Class mercedes!! I swapped out the 05 Delphi MP3 Audiophile head unit for my factory 04 Visteon head unit after only 3 days. The negatives of the 05 head unit were distortion from the front speakers and lower bass output from the sub. So, just a word of advice....DO NOT upgrade to the 05 MP3 head unit, and consider downgrading to an 04 model if you have a later production 05. UNLESS you don't take full advantage of your system and/or aren't an audio nut.

Dude get it if you can. Mine will shake my rear veiw. The only thing is you may not be able to do with your radio is adjust the ambiance. I have the 6 disc indash audiophile and have never used any other radio in the new Ford, so I don't know if you can adjust the ambiance or not without the 6 disc Audiophile. If you can, than crank it up an that little joker will get off. Good luck.

I was just told if I do not have the wiring harness from the audiophile system I will not be able to hook up the factory enclosure..? Why wouldn't I be able to run the needed wires to hook up as if I was hooking up an aftermarket box & amp?? Has anyone done this & what needs to be done? Thanks for all the great advise now I have to find out if its possible or not?????

Honestly, it should come down to what kind of quality you are after and the cost to do either an aftermarket system vs aqcuiring the factory set up. In my mind from many cars and audio systems, you will never top the aftermarket products out there with OEM level audio. Some OEM stuff is better than after market, but in the long run you can get some pretty awesome stuff for pretty cheap in the aftermarket and be very pleased.
