I am running ryans harness on a 93 5.0HO out of a mustang. When I crank the engine and let it run the engine the engine has extreme up and down idle speeds. After I turned it off I got trouble codes 81, 82, 84, and 85. Are these codes normal? What would cause the strange idle speeds. I am thinking maybe the EGR valve which is not hooked up.

81- KOEO Air management 2 solenoid circuit failure, Air injection
82- KOEO Air management 1 solenoid circuit failure, air injection
84- KOEO EGR vacuum regulator circuit failure
85- KOEO Canister purge solenoid failure
I am guessing that you are not running an air pump or charcoal canister. It sounds like you have all of these disconnected which would make the codes normal. Do you have any of the EGR or controls for it? Did the harness come set up to use EGR? He is famous for recommending not to use EGR, but I feel that it is important for engine driveability. This is probably not causing the idle surge that you have.
There a many things that could be causing your problem. Does it clear up when it is warm? Does it run properly off idle? Where is your base timing set at? How is the fuel pressure? Basic engine and tune up condition? Any vacuum leaks?
